
Luiza Nogueira Barbosa is a researcher at the University of Coimbra Institute for Legal Research (UCILeR) and at the Center for the Study of Process and Conflict Resolution (NEAPI, PPGDIR/UFES). PhD Candidate in Philosophy of Law at the University Coimbra and scholarship holder of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Portugal. She holds a Degree and a Master’s Degree in Law. Ms. Barbosa worked as a mediator in a project created by Fundação Renova to indemnify people affected by the worst environmental disaster in Brazil (contamination of Doce River after the collapse of a mining dam). As a researcher at NEAPI, Ms. Barbosa engaged on the research/training groups for Moot Courts (especially on International Mediation), integrating students of Undergraduation and Masters to develop their personal and professional skills and to integrate the legal practice in their academic path. The work with NEAPI resulted in two important awards: 1st Place as a Mediation Team at the 2017 CAMARB Arbitration and Mediation Competition, the largest mediation competition of Latin America, and 7th Place at the "2018 ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition". Her main interests are international and global law, human rights, legal philosophy, and mediation.
